Community Mobilization Meeting

A total of 12 participants, comprising young LGBTQ+ activists, attended the event. Despite the recent turmoil in the town, the gathering brought together dedicated individuals working towards intersectional feminism, peacebuilding, and LGBTQ+ rights in Manipur and beyond. The program consisted of two segments: "Community and Functionaries of a Collective" and "Basics of Fundraising". The discussion centered on creating a community-focused approach to advance LGBTQ+ agendas, emphasizing collaboration with existing collectives, organizations, and community groups. The need to transcend urban biases and leverage social media for community building was highlighted. Participants stressed the importance of tailoring programs and events to the interests of the broader community, rather than just the organizers' agendas. Establishing connections between queer/trans leaders across districts and encouraging new community groups were also identified as key strategies to enrich the movement.
